Looking good...

> I will write a small web app for organising, approving and so on

That'll be good.

> Other things to do?

- Do the Gborg projects look OK? I wasn't sure about them being
centered, but it looks better than left justified.

- The Usergroups are still ficticious.

- The What Is... Link still does nothing. Perhaps it should just point
to the Advocacy site.

- Stats from the Jobs site - how near is that to opening? Is it worth
writing the code to get the stats now?

- The backend database should really be moved from the techdocs
database. I have created database 186_portal through AMS, and added a
user www to it. It is set for trusted access. I haven't had time to move
anything to it.

- A nod or 2 from Marc's direction would be nice...

Not a bad idea. Perhaps the About page of the Advocacy site?

http://advocacy.postgresql.org/about/

It didn't ever gain any momentum, so that site is effectively dead. :-/

Really needed someone (other than me - no time for it) to lead
development of it.

We should probably remove the Jobs entries from the new portal for now,
until the Jobs site has been re-created afresh and is workable.

Yep. jobs.postgresql.org

A place for people to be able to know what PostgreSQL related jobs are
around, therefore encouraging community growth by increasing the
employment opportunities for PostgreSQL skilled people. :)

If you want to do so, that would be great. Robert may have ideas on
this as well, but not sure.

The old site started out that way, but didn't get very far.

If we're going to re-start completely, our options are flexible.

I have an easier way if everything's in php. A couple of them actually.
But nothing stops you from creating a subdir, putting a .htaccess in it
and pointing to a file in your homedir provided it's group writable so
others can change their passwords or add a user or whatever.

Actually you don't really need any rights to do this.

Anyway, I have setup and admin folder in /usr/local/www/www/admin (http://wwwdevel.postgresql.org/admin/). In there is a .htaccess file which shouldn't need to be touched. There is also a password file (/usr/local/www/portal.htpasswd) which contains the passwords. I have added myself for now, but anyone in the www group can add an account for themselves using something like:

% htpasswd /usr/local/www/portal.htpasswd <username>
