Thread: GSoC 2015 - mentors, students and admins.
Hi all,
Google Summer of Code 2015 is approaching. I'm intending on registering PostgreSQL again this year.
Before I do that, I'd like to have an idea of how many people are interested in being either a student or a mentor.

I've volunteered to be admin again, but if anyone else has a strong interest of seeing the projects through this year, please let yourself be known.
Who would be willing to mentor projects this year?
Students can find more information about GSoC here: http://www.postgresql.org/developer/summerofcode
Thanks
Thom
I am up for mentoring again.

Thanks for the interest from mentors and students so far.
Could I interest more to volunteer as mentors this year? I'll be registering the project with Google soon so I'll want an idea of how many mentors we'll have available.

I'd like to remind "Be Early" advice for GSoC students.
http://www.postgresql.org/developer/summerofcodeadvice/
Students which starts discussion of their project early have much more chances to show favourable sides of their proposals. As result they have more chances to get proposals accepted.

Spoke with the MADlib team yesterday, and they have a potential student who expressed interest in GSoC in the past. They are contacting him. I'm willing to mentor a MADlib submission, and I have support from Pivotal regarding their support as well. Please ensure that you also submit your proposal. The proposals will be reviewed based on how well planned they are (description, use case, implementation plan, milestones etc.), the feasibility of completing it as part of a GSoC project, and whether the proposal is desirable. Please do not make submissions without a clear proposal of what you plan to do as these will not be considered. If you need assistance with anything in the meantime, please get in contact. Thanks Thom
