Thread: Contest: Theme, Slogan for 9.4
All: We need a theme and a slogan for the 9.4 release in order to reach a lot of developers. That is, something which summarizes what the 9.3 release is "about". Since I'm completely out of ideas, I've convinced Mark Wong to donate one of his irresistable Chelniks as a prize for whomever can come up with a good, catchy theme and slogan idea for the 9.4 release which we can pick and run with. You don't need to design the art for this, just provide the text and some ideas. Chelnik: http://pdxpug.wordpress.com/category/chelnik/ Example good themes include: 9.0: Replication Made Easy 9.2: Racecar-like Performance -- Josh Berkus PostgreSQL Experts Inc. http://pgexperts.com

I certainly hope some things get simpler than 9.4, especially where recovery.conf is concerned. ;-) Or is that a backhanded way of saying "Postgres just gets more complicated from here"? -- Josh Berkus PostgreSQL Experts Inc. http://pgexperts.com

I think that, while a good slogan/market focus should be on Postgres becoming more inclusive to data models, calling it "universal" is over broad. When the Postgres core sans any contrib modules or extension etc becomes computationally complete for users, meaning users can make it simulate any other programming language or a turing machine with nothing more than they can write from scratch at a Postgres command prompt (meaning no C etc), then we can call it "universal". -- Darren Duncan
