Thread: LinuxWorld, London Olympia Oct 6th/7th
Thanks to the kind offices of uklinux.net we have the offer of a stall at the .Org village again. Both Oliver and myself are planning to attend, but a third person might well be useful. Especially if you have experience of the Java/Windows side of PG. Preparation is going to be tricky because we are both on holiday in the lead-up to the event, so I'm trying to get things moving asap. Further notes in a separate thread. -- Richard Huxton Archonet Ltd

Richard, I could probably help out on one of the days. Plenty of experience of using Java with PG. -- Paul Thomas +------------------------------+-------------------------------------------+ | Thomas Micro Systems Limited | Software Solutions for Business | | Computer Consultants | http://www.thomas-micro-systems-ltd.co.uk | +------------------------------+-------------------------------------------+

Richard, I'd like to join in, if I may. At least one, possibly both days - I was just going to put out a call this evening, actually. Press release seems fine, apart from the dropping of my own companies name from the list of majors contributors (not down to you Richard, picked up on another thread). For the UK list at least, I'd like to see it included (for this release), unless we hear differently. Chat before the event? How/Where? Best Regards, Simon Riggs, 2nd Quadrant

Sounds like there'll be plenty of us to go round this year. :-) Who else is going (I'm not on -advocacy)? I saw the posts from Simon & Paul in the archives, and Bruce said he might make it when we chatted yesterday... Regards, Dave.

Guys, Can one of you send me a shipping address? I'd like to send you some T-shirts and ask Heather for some CDs, but need to get moving if you're to get them on time. -- Josh Berkus Aglio Database Solutions San Francisco

Is anyone else able to receive them and likely to have transport to bring them? I wasn't planning to bring a car into London this time. Josh, *if* you get no other response, send them to me: Watergate House 112 Watergate Road Newport Isle of Wight PO30 1XP United Kingdom Phone for delivery: 01983 827830 -- Oliver Elphick olly@lfix.co.uk Isle of Wight http://www.lfix.co.uk/oliver GPG: 1024D/A54310EA 92C8 39E7 280E 3631 3F0E 1EC0 5664 7A2F A543 10EA ======================================== "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. If it makes sense, you can send them to my offices at: 2nd Quadrant Ltd Bicester Innovation Centre Telford Road Bicester Oxfordshire OX26 4LD ...there's always somebody there to receive stuff. HM Government doesn't put Duty on T-shirts does she? I can drive in - I'll take a T-shirt in lieu of the Congestion Charge! I'm only there on the 6th Oct though now. ...not sure if that means I'll miss some of you. Hope not. Duty would be around 4% and then there's VAT on the whole lot, including shipping cost. Has anyone imported anything similar into UK before? > I can drive in - I'll take a T-shirt in lieu of the Congestion Charge! This is, of course, under the theory of a uniform EU customs code. -- Peter Eisentraut http://developer.postgresql.org/~petere/

So why would we be charged VAT? -- --Josh Josh Berkus Aglio Database Solutions San Francisco

It doesn't matter what someone plans to do with the items, it matters if they have commercial value when they receive them. That's why you probably should declare the items as a donation or gift at the moment when you give them away.
SImon, > I've got a box of PostgreSQL LIVE CDs, but no T-shirts. Has anybody else > received those? Not impounded by customs, I hope :) Crap. I paid $65 to get you the t-shirts on time. Peter got his t-shirts, sent regular mail, already. Will check with Fedex. -- Josh Berkus Aglio Database Solutions San Francisco
I'll check the parcel receipt records. It's probably been signed for here and then "filed". ...there's still time to get them to the show.... At least I know you've sent them, so it shouldn't be too hard! Time I sent you that $50 also....
