The list of translators

From

Date:
Hi everyone,

The present list of people who can translate the Press Release to other
languages is pretty much those people who finished translating the
Advocacy website for their language.

Brazilian Portuguese: Diogo Biazus <diogo@ikono.com.br>
French: François Suter <dba@paragraf.ch>
German: Cornelia Boenigk <poppcorn@cornelia-boenigk.de>, Michael Paesold
<mpaesold@gmx.at>
Italian: Stefano Reksten <sreksten@sdb.it>
Romanian: Adrian Maier <am@fx.ro>
Spanish: Alvaro Herrera <alvherre@dcc.uchile.cl>
Swedish: Henrik Edlund <henrik@edlund.org>
Turkish: Devrim GUNDUZ <devrim@tr.net>

The Dutch translation of the Advocacy site was also begun but hasn't
been completed. We probably shouldn't include that language until the
Dutch version of the Advocacy site is ready.

Each translation volunteer should really be asked if they're ok to
translate the Press Release for PG 7.3, as some of them may not have
time. For example, Adrian Maier is a student with limited Internet
Access, and Henrik Edlund may not have time to either.

:-)

Regards and best wishes,

Justin Clift

I'm ready to translate.

(I began to do, because of the conference this weekend :) )

Best regards.

I'm just waiting the final version to translate it.

Hi Justin,

I have a plan to translate 7.3 press release at the Japan PostgreSQL
User Group (JPUG) for several tech press in Japan.

In this translation, how should we mention about contact information?

I think Japanese press will not contact to you or Marc directly. So the
additional contact information (c.f. JPUG's mail address) on the release
will be nice for Japanese press .

Can we put the additional contact information in the translated release?

Any suggestions?

Unless anyone else has a problem with it, I would think any of the
translators that wanted to could add local contact information if there
is an appropriate person to do it.

1) Is anyone coordinating the translators? Me? Someone else?

2) Translators *should* add themselves as contacts at the top of the
release, if they are willing to field calls/e-mails.

I am trying to coordinate it, though I am still on the road so I've got
communications issues. So far I have translations in 4 languages (french,
italian, german, romanian) with 2 more promised for the weekend or soon after
(turkish, portuguese). IIRC someone on the list talked about translating it to
japanese, but we still need someone to do spanish and swedish (and any others).

That was my thinking.

Chris Phelan <chris@vanten.com> is doing the Japanese version, giving
time for Satoshi Nagayasu to work on his paper about 2-phase commit
instead. :)

Sounds like a good idea.

Chris, are you comfortable in listing yourself as the Japanese contact
person?
