Thread: SouthEast LinuxFest (SELF) 2013 Request for Papers (RFP)
Hello, everyone! Just wanted to let y'all know that the SouthEast LinuxFest (SELF) RFP is open: http://www.southeastlinuxfest.org/rfp2013/form.html Looks like the deadline is April 8th. (Full disclosure: I'm not involved with planning for the conference; I attended last year's and had a good time, including bringing a sousaphone to the Pg booth. They've requested a return of both [the booth and the sousaphone]. ;) ) Charlotte's a pretty town, it's an interesting hotel (for some values of "interesting"), and Taste of Charlotte will be going on again during the conference (at which this happened: http://youtu.be/hDRPjdrpiLY ). Also, while we're discussing conferences: OpenSourceBridge has extended their CFP though Saturday: http://opensourcebridge.org/blog/2013/03/were-extending-our-call-for-proposals/ and do we know yet if we're doing a booth for OSCON this year? ---Michael Brewer mbrewer@gmail.com

Yeah, I think folks here feel that we're competing with too much OSCON extracurricular activities to have a successful pgDay. I think an evening get together would be good. Were you thinking of something more than just getting BOF? Regards, Mark

Which would probably require us to do it outside the convention center, and serving beer. -- Josh Berkus PostgreSQL Experts Inc. http://pgexperts.com

I will be at SELF, but not at OSCON (as far as I know). I believe they're planning a table for us, so I'll need whatever materials we'll be using (if we're deprecating the stand-up display, which sounds like a good idea, I'll probably need to get the specs for vinyl banner printing). Will bring sousaphone, of course.

I am a CharLUG member and presenting on the ltree add-on module at SELF.
If there's a PostgreSQL booth, maybe I can split time between CharLUG & PostgreSQL?On Sat, May 4, 2013 at 2:21 AM, Christophe Pettus <xof@thebuild.com> wrote:

Anything else I should do advocacy-wise while I'm there? Other than booth? Not that I can think of. There isn't a community in Charlotte; you'd have to go to Raleigh-Durum to find the nearest PUG. -- Josh Berkus PostgreSQL Experts Inc. http://pgexperts.com
