Open Source Projects using PostgreSQL

From

Hi,

I was gathering some material for a PostgreSQL advocacy talk, and
wondered whether there was a list of Open Source projects using
PostgreSQL, preferably by default or exclusively.

I couldn't find much on the website besides

http://www.postgresql.org/download/products/7

where most projects except for Bacula (besides, License = commercial?)
and Bricolage did not ring a bell and the "Open Source Projects" section
on

http://www.postgresql.org/about/users

However, that one is not very focused either and it is not exactly clear
whether those projects use Postgres in-house (like e.g. Debian with
their package archive software), or base their products/projects on it
(gforge).

I could not find any other lists, so I started one on the wiki for now
with the projects I have gathered so far:

http://wiki.postgresql.org/wiki/OpenSource_Projects_Using_PostgreSQL

If this is redundant or useless, I will just remove it again, otherwise,
please add to it. I think it would be particularly valuable to have a
list of high-profile Open Source projects handy, which use PostgreSQL by
default or even exclusively.

Cheers,

Michael

LedgerSMB (http://www.ledgersmb.org) is an open source accounting and
ERP project which uses PostgreSQL exclusively. Wondering how to get
it on the list. I didn't see an easy way to create an account so
maybe that's not open to the general public.

I think the list is very useful, btw. I would suggest if possible
adding links to the projects so folks who want more information can go
to the respective web pages.

There are a couple major reasons why I think such a list is very useful:
1) It shows people what they can do with PostgreSQL
2) It helps the community find open source software that supports PostgreSQL.

Best Wishes,
Chris Travers

Oh right, I saw your blog posts over the last weeks, but I did an
initial list a while ago and forgot to add it.

I believe you need a community account, which I you have to create via
the main site AFAIK. I have added LedgerSMB now, FWIW.

Absolutely, I was just a bit in a hurry earlier on. If I find time over
the weekend, I will add the respective links if nobody beats me to it.

Yeah.

The only page like this on the wiki already is
http://wiki.postgresql.org/wiki/Category:Software_Ports and I just added
your new page to that category. That was tracking more works in
progress, and no one has updated it in years. It would be nice to make
that current too, if that's possible to sort out as part of research
into this new list

While I was in there I fixed a couple of things:

-"OpenSource" isn't a proper combination; the page is now named
http://wiki.postgresql.org/wiki/Open_Source_Projects_Using_PostgreSQL to
fix that before it gets linked to more.
-Page is reformatted into sections
-I removed the intro, since it just restarted the page title
-Linked the new page into the main site at
http://wiki.postgresql.org/wiki/Advocacy
