access to make changes to archives.postgresql.org, http://www.postgresql.org/community/lists/subscribe

Hello, May I please be given access to make changes to the web pages that are housed on archives.postgresql.org? Also to /community/lists/subscribe? This is the correct list to make these requests, yes? I've sent three messages requesting changes so far, with no response from anyone. The blank pages are causing lots of problems for the new user groups because people are being directed to the "lists" pages to subscribe, and when they click the links, nothing is there! It took about 1.5 years to get the PDXPUG pages properly formatted. Obviously, I would like to fix the new user group pages faster than that :) We have two more user groups that are "queued" because I don't want to put them out there without proper support. -selena -- Selena Deckelmann PDXPUG - Portland PostgreSQL Users Group http://pugs.postgresql.org/pdx http://www.chesnok.com/daily

I will handle the /community/lists/subscribe stuff later today - the archives templates can only be fixed by dave or marc iirc. Stefan

Marc normally deals with the archives site, though I have been known to pickup fixes in his absence. Fire over the changes you want to me and I'll add them to my todo list and try to squeeze them in sometime this week. Anyone else with commit privs can tweak the other page - there are a few folks here that can do it, but if none of them are brave enough for the challenge I'll pick that up as well. -- Dave Page EnterpriseDB UK: http://www.enterprisedb.com The Oracle-compatible database company

Here are the pages that need to be updated: http://archives.postgresql.org/spug/ http://archives.postgresql.org/atlpug/ http://archives.postgresql.org/seapug/ Also, can we get the following linked in the navigation menu along with SFPUG, PDXPUG and SYDPUG: http://archives.postgresql.org/lapug/ http://archives.postgresql.org/spug/ http://archives.postgresql.org/atlpug/ http://archives.postgresql.org/seapug/ I'm about to request lists for MADPUG and a new PUG in Austin, TX. Possibly another two for Salt Lake City and Boston. The groups are going to keep coming -- Can you grant me access to fix these pages in the future? > Anyone else with commit privs can tweak the other page - there are a > few folks here that can do it, but if none of them are brave enough > for the challenge I'll pick that up as well. I really appreciate it. I had to tweak the code a bit (we had none of the pugs lists listed there before and they use a different naming schema than the rest of the lists) but this should appear on the main site after the next sitebuild. Changes should be visible in a few hours. I also notice there seem to be the following additional lists: norpug vepug pug-pdx persianpug Are they all still in use? Finally, we should give some thought to how these work alongside the regional lists, sich as pgsql-tr-genel or pgsql-ru-general as it seems likely we'll get more crossover in the future (for example, you should get a request soon for ukpug, which could equally have been pgsql-uk-general). -- Dave Page EnterpriseDB UK: http://www.enterprisedb.com The Oracle-compatible database company

PUGs are focused on regional, in-person contact and regular, or monthly meetings. I think UKPUG fits that model, at this point. Perhaps UKPUG could be an umbrella like NZPUG is. Check out their site. http://pgug.org.nz/ They've got a neat "request a meeting" feature that Brenda set up to track where people are who create accounts. -selena -- Selena Deckelmann PDXPUG - Portland PostgreSQL Users Group http://pugs.postgresql.org/pdx http://www.chesnok.com/daily

I think UKPUG fits that model, at this point. Yes, it will. I just wanted to make sure we had some difference between the two types of group in mind - and clearly you do :-) > Perhaps UKPUG could be an umbrella like NZPUG is. Can Drupal handle that sort of thing? There isn't a module. Brenda just rigged up a query that searched for location and if a wiki page didn't exist for the location, she published the results as "requested meetings". I want that for the main PUGS site! I'll have some time this weekend to play around with it. -selena -- Selena Deckelmann PDXPUG - Portland PostgreSQL Users Group http://pugs.postgresql.org/pdx http://www.chesnok.com/daily

Actually, the pgsql-xx-general lists were meant to be *language* lists, not regional ... pgsql-es-* was meant for Spanish speaking users, regardless of what country they were in, for instance ... tr == turkish ... ru == russian ... etc ... - ---- Marc G.
