Thread: PostgreSQL booth, Solutions Linux 2007, Paris 30/01 - 02/02/07
Hi all! This year, unfortunately, our PostgreSQLFr organization can't rely on the company organizing the conferences to have travel and accomodation paid for one "hacker" of the PostgreSQL project, in charge of a technical conference. That was the case in 2004 (Bruce), 2005 (Jan) and 2006 (Gavin), it is no more possible. But, we would really like having one or more "hackers" at the booth. Magnus Hagander is okay to come, and I think it will be okay, since our organization has a bit less than a thousand euros cash, enough to pay a plane for him. But I was wondering if others would like to come? I think about Peter Eisentraut, Michael Meskes or Simon Riggs.. or everyone nearby Paris? This would be an honnor for us, and very interesting to the visitors. Since the booth is not that hudge, 1 to 3 "hackers" would be perfect. Who's interested? It's really early to talk about a February 2007 exhibit, but we will need time to organize it and collect more funds. Thanks. -- Jean-Paul Argudo www.PostgreSQLFr.org www.dalibo.com
Hmm, I'd like to come to Paris. I've been meaning to go for years, so I'll give it another try next year. But I can't promise anything yet. -- Peter Eisentraut http://developer.postgresql.org/~petere/
Hi all, I didn't wipe out the >> quoted text below, because it was the original message I sent months ago, so you may have deleted it... :-) Oleg Bartunov wrote: > Hmm, > I'd like to come to Paris. > Oleg Oleg, please let us know how much money you need to come to Paris. Please be conscient our non-profit hasnt got much money, so please consider the cheapest plane :-) If the money need is not that much, maybe you could come with Teodor? You'll be placed in an house of one of us during the period (maybe you could come the entire week of the 29 jan...) Let me know quickly how much it is!! My company (dalibo, Im cto) may sponsorship the travel costs ;-) > On Mon, 9 Oct 2006, Jean-Paul Argudo wrote: > >> Hi all! >> >> >> This year, unfortunately, our PostgreSQLFr organization can't rely on >> the company organizing the conferences to have travel and accomodation >> paid for one "hacker" of the PostgreSQL project, in charge of a >> technical conference. Sorry, I forgot to say we still have no one coming to Paris for sure (http://www.solutionslinux.fr/en/index.php (english)). So the proposal we made to Oleg and Teodor is the same for anyone willing to come in our booth ! I know Magnus may be interested to come: Magnus are you still ok to come? How much is your plane? Others willing to come? Maybe europeans? (People at Credativ or EnterpriseDB UK ?).. Same question here, how much you need to come here? Any help is *much* appreciated. Thanks a lot, NB : some people are directly in CC of this message, but not everyone in their organizations. So, Simon and Peter, don't hesitate in telling the people around you if they may be interested to come in Paris late January... -- Jean-Paul Argudo www.PostgreSQLFr.org www.dalibo.com

How much is your plane? I think I am. Exactly what dates are we talking about? All the days, or is there a "pg-specific" day? A return-trip from stockholm appears to be just under 200 euro. Also, can I assume you can take care of both travel and accomodations costs? I don't have a budget for such things at work, unfortunatly. //Magnus

Hi all! To complete whats already on postgresql.org (http://www.postgresql.org/about/event.444), I can say now Devrim Gündüz and Magnus Hagander will be with us in the booth. Except Devrim has a really unprobable visa problem. Our non-profit organization (PostgreSQLFr) is funded by the company I own (dalibo.com) to pay planes tickets for both guest stars, plus the 1st hotel night in Paris. dalibo paid also 200 PostgreSQLFr.org badges (38 millimeters diameter, full color, see it: http://priam.dalibo.net/~jpa/badge.html). The non-profit organization will pay all the rest: - 50 embroided shirts (http://www.postgresqlfr.org/?q=node/1044) - 2000 stickers - tshirts (50 remain from the last year) - differents other little things, like home-made elephant cakes (http://www.postgresqlfr.org/?q=node/585, aka ButterBredele, its an Alsacian Christmas little cake) If someone here can update the post http://www.postgresql.org/about/event.444 to tell people Devrim and Magnus will come, this would be really great. Every PostgreSQL contributor or even user is still welcome, but you'll have to pay travels costs by your own. Don't hesitate in contacting me to have informations about the travel, book an hotel or everything you want, except sending you Elephant Cakes, I keep them for me, there're too good ;-) Cheers, -- Jean-Paul Argudo www.PostgreSQLFr.org www.dalibo.com
