Types of OSS Projects, review requested

From

Folks,

I've put up an article at Powerpostgresql.com on "The 5 Types of Open Source
Projects". Since I intend to hand this out at OSBC, I'd like to get some
feedback from other OSS people before handing it to the suits.

Can people let me know where I've mis-characterized projects, and where my
narrative is unclear? Thanks!

Josh,

can you modify your css or html-coding ? I used to use firefox not in
full screen mode and it's very difficult to me to read your site, while
it's just plain text and nothing prevent to have it friendly.

Very odd, considering that the article was *composed* in FireFox. Gavin?

I really like this a lot, and think it would also be telling to
include the license schemes adopted by the different example projects
- which are GPL, BSD, or dual.

Thanks for writing this up, this is a great resource for explaining
FOSS to the uninitiated.

Hmmm. Actually, of all the groups, only Corporate is tied to particular
licenses. Everyone else is all over the map. A comment on that is in order.

Looks like I futzed up the cc to advocacy again... hey all , what do folks
think about this? I just can't think of any monarchy that people think
highly of (maybe monaco) but also monarchy seems to imply that control stays
within the family... with a dictatorship the torch can be passed to a
favorable replacement... anyone have a better wording?

The term 'benevolent dictatorship' also stems from the FOSS vernacular
and terminology - not sure if that would be read the same way by
someone new to FOSS.

Well, for me at least the first time I ever heard the term was Linus,
and then Larry Wall, then Guido from the python camp.....
