Thread: Cannot establish a remote connection

Cannot establish a remote connection

I need to connect to a remote PostgreSQL 9.3 database with pgAdmin III within our private network, so I did the following:

* Open postgresql.conf file and verify that listen_addresses = '*'
* Open pg_hba.conf and add the following line:
host    all             all             192.168.168.0/24            md5
Our private network segment is 192.168.168.*
* I stop PostgreSQL service.
* I start PostgeSQL service.

I can connect locally but not remotely.
I will very much appreciate your feedback.

Respectfully,
Jorge Maldonado

What is the IP of the database server?
Have router between the database server and pgAdmin III ??? Is on the same subnet ?
The firewall ports are enabled?

I tell the firewall that is running on the database server. If linux, make sure it is actually running, because I had problems with this SELINUX, edit / etc / selinux / config file. Find the line SELINUX=enforcing and replace with SELINUX=disabled.

This will disable SELinux at the next reboot

Maybe that...

The DB server IP address is 192.168.168.2
The client PC that tries to connect to DB server is 192.168.168.73

As you can see, the 2 machines are in the same private network and same subnet.
I assume that no firewall is needed in this case.

Regards.

Please help us know if you are getting any kind of error messages while trying to connect ? are you able to connect to the database / database server remotely without pgAdmin-III ?

Are you able to ping the database and see if PostgreSQL port is allowing connections remotely ?
