pgaccess BusinessExchange

Hello everybody,

The new pgaccess wiki

http://www.pgaccess.org/wiki/

allowed me to enhance one idea I am working on for some time.

It is about using pgaccess for building small applications. The idea was
originally conceived by Teo, who has started the pgaccess API.

My personal vision is that pgaccess can be a nice base for building
cross platform end user client applications, connecting to a central
server (PostgreSQL).

Currently I envision three areas -

- warehousing systems for small companies
- accounting systems for small companies
- students' directories for schools or universities

What we are missing are cases where this can be first implemented.

To help finding such, I established on section on the pgaccess wiki -
Business Exchange

http://www.pgaccess.org/wiki/index.php?page=BusinessExchange

The idea is to support individuals and companies all around the world to
find similar topics and join their forces in the development of the
tools.

Please, feel free to share your ideas and use the wiki BusinessExchange
for going into that area.

All best to everybody,

Iavor

PS I myself am thinking hard where we can use pgaccess in a commercial
or non-profit project (such as university, for example), but I am not
sure of more than addresses management system we will try to build soon.
I think Chris did something in this direction.

Well, this is what I do professionally.

However, I still don't have 0.98.8 working; the problem is that I'm
using a package-based system (SuSE) and need to re-build TCL/Tk from
source. Which, at last estimate, will take me 4-5 hours. : -(

Maybe I should convert to GenToo.

To configure, make, make install on my machine (Tcl 8.3.4):
Tcl: 3 minutes
Tk: 4 minutes
