Thread: download postgreql problem

download postgreql problem

From
Joseph.Dunleavy@vertexinc.com
Date:

I am trying to download postgresql from one of the mirror sites. I get prompted for a username and password. I try anonymous login and my password and I get an error stating either the server doesn't support anonymous logins or that my email address wasn't accepted.

What am I doing incorrectly?

Thanks,
JD

Try this URL:

ftp://ftp9.us.postgresql.org/mirrors/postgresql

No dice.
It tried ftp as the userid and anonymous as the password. I tried using anonymous and supplying my email joseph.dunleavy@vertexinc.com.

That would be your problem right there. IE's handling of FTP sessions
is notoriously quirky. Do yourself a favor and download a shareware
FTP program, or open up a DOS prompt.

When you login anonymously you must use the username anonymous and send an
email address as the password - you are probably suplying a password that
does not contain an @-sign and so isnot accepted as a valid password.

I tried using Reflection ftp client.
I get logged in to ftp server anonymously and I get asked what is your account?
I then get the message access denied.
