Thread: Delphi PostgreSQL Forum
I searched Delphi for a PostgreSQL forum to realized that there is no PostgreSQL forum at Delphi. Is there any problem is I open one? Should I contact someone or ask permision? I would want to open one forum at Delphi.com. Efrain Caro

Well, I'm still waiting for any advise about what rights I may have to start it. If I can do it without permission or if I need one. I have received none on that. Maybe there were some, but almost immediately after I sent this to the list, there was a problem with the list and I didn't receive email from it. Maybe someone replied, but I didn't receive it. My concern is about any possible copyright violation. I know that pgsql is open source software, but I don't know anything about starting something without actual owner's permission. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daryl Chance" <dchance@valuedata.net> To: "Efrain Caro" <betsemes@hotmail.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 10, 2000 10:01 AM Subject: Re: [GENERAL] Delphi PostgreSQL Forum > any luck with getting this started? > -------------------------------------------------------- > | Daryl Chance | I have made this letter longer then | > | Valuedata, LLC | usual because I lacked the time to | > | Memphis, TN | make it shorter. -- Blaise Pascal | > -------------------------------------------------------- > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Efrain Caro" <betsemes@hotmail.com> > To: "PostgreSQL general mailing list" <pgsql-general@postgresql.org> > Sent: Monday, October 02, 2000 1:32 PM > Subject: [GENERAL] Delphi PostgreSQL Forum > > > > I searched Delphi for a PostgreSQL forum to realized that there is no > > PostgreSQL forum at Delphi. AFAIK, no one posted a reply to it. I don't really see any copyright violations or anything like that by just starting up a mailing list/forum for helping Delphi/PgSQL users. But, I dunno :). Let me know if anything comes out of this...I plan on using both pgsql and delphi (using delphi currently) for my next project. Maybe, here is a confusion about the word "Delphi". Everywhere I use "Delphi" in this emails, I mean the Delphi web site that has to do with forums about anything. What I want to do is to open a forum in www.delphi.com for pgsql discussions. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daryl Chance" <dchance@valuedata.net> To: "Efrain Caro" <betsemes@hotmail.com> Cc: "PostgreSQL general mailing list" <pgsql-general@postgresql.org> Sent: Tuesday, October 10, 2000 10:30 AM Subject: Re: [GENERAL] Delphi PostgreSQL Forum > AFAIK, no one posted a reply to it. doh. nevermind...I was under the impression you were talking about Borland Delphi. While no one is going to stop you from doing so, I have to wonder what's the point? The people who know about Postgres are hanging out in these mailing lists, not on Delphi. If you did manage to get any useful discussion going in a separate list, seems like it'd just act to fragment the Postgres community. It's already hard enough to know which list to post a particular question in --- why make that problem worse by starting up a completely independent list? regards, tom lane
I have been thinking in that same thing. I've been looking on how much Linux forums and mailing lists are there and how difficult is to get the information that I want. So I already realized that this is a bad idea. I was looking mainly for a place where there are archives so that I may be able to search with a local search engine. I found that at Geocrawler.com, so there is no use in opening a new pgsql forum. Thanks. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Lane" <tgl@sss.pgh.pa.us> To: "Efrain Caro" <betsemes@hotmail.com> Cc: "Daryl Chance" <dchance@valuedata.net>; "PostgreSQL general mailing list" <pgsql-general@postgresql.org> Sent: Tuesday, October 10, 2000 12:16 PM Subject: Re: [GENERAL] Delphi PostgreSQL Forum > "Efrain Caro" <betsemes@hotmail.com> writes: > > Maybe, here is a confusion about the word "Delphi". Hello, Daryl! Take a look at the Dephi Components Zeos Database Objects for PostgreSQL. If you are familiar with delphi TDataSet you will be right at home with ZDBO components. http://www.zeos.dn.ua Daryl Chance wrote: > doh. nevermind...I was under the impression you were talking > about Borland Delphi.
