Thread: PostgreSQL - most advanced open software database engine

PostgreSQL - most advanced open software database engine

I would like to propose we start using the phrase:

PostgreSQL - the most advanced open software database engine

for several reasons:

    1) I think it is true. Someone tell me if it is not.
    2) It gets people's attentions. "Wow, it is the most advanced."
    3) It clearly identifies us as "most advanced" and "free", which
are important for people considering us.

Or we could use the word powerful:

PostgreSQL - the most powerful open software database engine

I would like to start seeing it on our web site, and in posting people
make about PostgreSQL. I think we need a "defining phrase" so people
can easily identify why we are good.

MySQL already has "fast". At least that is what I think about when I
hear MySQL. We need to be associated with our strength, and that is
"advanced" and "powerful".

Comments?

perhaps PostgreSQL should adopt a slogan like:

PostgreSQL: Where do you want to go today?

or

PostgreSQL: Enabling the information age.

The subsequent litigation (against who?) from M$ or Oracle would make
PostgreSQL a household name.

              ^^^^^^^^
Isn't that term often employed with a perjorative attached? (by
Alcoholics Anonymous ;-)

Seriously, how about:

                                 PostgreSQL
The most advanced database engine available -
on CD and by free download!

This example may be trite but the good bottom line is also a hook.
I also like the flaming logo/slogan (can't recall where I saw it):

The future of relational databases is here: PostgreSQL.

Cheers,
Tom
