Thread: backend closed the channel unexpectedly
Hello, I am still trying to get postgresql-7.1.3 to work on Windows 2000 using Cygwin1 DLL 1.3.5 and cygipc-1.11. However, while perfomring the regression test or when connecting to postmaster I receive the following error message: > $ make check > > . > . > . > > /bin/sh.exe ./pg_regress --temp-install --top-builddir=../../.. \ > --schedule=./parallel_schedule --multibyte= > ============== removing existing temp installation ============== > ============== creating temporary installation ============== > ============== initializing database system ============== > ============== starting postmaster ============== > running on port 65432 with pid 1952 > ============== creating database "regression" ============== > psql: pqReadData() -- backend closed the channel unexpectedly. > This probably means the backend terminated abnormally > before or while processing the request. > createdb: database creation failed > pg_regress: createdb failed > make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/postgresql-7.1.3/src/test/regress' > make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/postgresql-7.1.3/src/test' > I found a mailing thread concerning a similar problem in the archives of this list: http://archives.postgresql.org/pgsql-cygwin/2001-04/msg00017.php Is the proposed workaround still valid? Unfortunately, I cannot get my hands on a cygwin version snapshot prior to 2001-04-16. Is there any other known workaround? Thanks in advance. Hi, using the pre-compiled binary of cygipc helped. I probably made a mistake while building ipc-daemon myself.
