Great,

Thanks for the quick respose. I will include pqsql-cygwin from now on.

Our eventual goal is to plug in postgresql into IIS - did you have to do
something similar? Are you using postgresql as the backend db for a
websever? I'm not able to find any documentation on how to do this; perhaps
you've done something like this as well?!?

If you have any information on this please pass it along, I will update you
on my progress as well.

Thanks again,

Rishi Sharma

I have found the following to be very helpful:

I never used the above mentioned pre-built Cygwin PostgreSQL 7.0. I
have only been using Cygwin PostgreSQL 7.0.2 and later that I built
myself. Hence, the only problems that I had was with people confusing
my distribution with the one on the PostgreSQL ftp site.

I have contributed pre-built Cygwin PostgreSQL distributions (the
current one is 7.1.2-1) that are automatically installed/upgraded when
you install Cygwin.

See the following for the announcement:

    http://www.cygwin.com/ml/cygwin-announce/2001/msg00069.html

Note that I have a yank and put error in the title -- the announcement
if really for 7.1.2-1 *not* 7.1.1-1. Sigh...

Also, see www.cygwin.com for more details and their very easy to use
setup.exe installer.

Yes, there have been many bug fixes (that affect the Cygwin version) and
unlimited table widths have been added in 7.1. Why would you want to
use PostgreSQL 7.0 when a pre-built 7.1.2 already exists?

In the future, please post to pgsql-cygwin@postgresql.org, so others can
benefit too.

Thanks,
Jason

No.

No, but why not use ODBC? Note that you will have to build this
yourself -- the Cygwin PostgreSQL distribution does not contain ODBC
support.

PostgreSQL works great behind Zope using ODBC for the interface. I
use Apache as the front end in this case, on NT as it happens, but
others have used IIS in a similar configuration.

PHP/Apache also makes it easy to access PostgreSQL.

AOLserver and the OpenACS packages work very well with PostgreSQL.

I don't know of any way to "plug in" PostgreSQL to IIS itself -- I'm
not sure what that would mean.
