To me S3, rsync.net, dropbox, softlayer are not options for the same reasons as Github is not an option. From a quick look there is not actually a server implementation of that available as open source, is there? There is some "reference implementation" that's explicitly listed as non-production...
Or did I miss something?

I think gitlab supports it, but I guess migrating to gitlab may not be an option :) There's also a list of implementations here : https://github.com/github/git-lfs/wiki/Implementations Not sure what's ready for production in this list, though. -- damien
