I just got a request for a PUG mailing list in Karlsruhe, Germany. Owners would be Jens Wilke <jens.wilke@1und1.de> Achim Eisele <achim.eisele@1und1.de> Name is unclear. Suggestions? Other thoughts? -- Álvaro Herrera http://www.2ndQuadrant.com/ PostgreSQL Development, 24x7 Support, Training & Services

Suggestions? Other thoughts? Karlsruhe is a city in Germany. Looks like they want to start a local user group, the company where the email addresses come from is located in this city. The car license plates have "KA", which seems to suit better... but otoh then it would be "KAPUG", which resembles "kaputt" (which should be known to english speakers as well, I think ;-) quite a bit ;-) The guys were speakers at this year's pgconf.{eu,de} conferences btw.: http://www.postgresql.eu/events/schedule/pgconfeu2013/session/451-success-stories-on-migrating-from-sybase-ase-to-postgresql/ Cheers, -- Gunnar "Nick" Bluth RHCE/SCLA Mobil +49 172 8853339 Email: gunnar.bluth@pro-open.de __________________________________________________________________________ In 1984 mainstream users were choosing VMS over UNIX. Hi Alvaro, for the mailing list for Karlsruhe's Postgres User Group, I would prefer your first suggestion: "karlsruhe-de-pug" Can you please set it up? Or do you need any further information? It's the first local german PUG AFAIK. I just BCC'd you in email to pgsql lists. Please reply there. I don't much like the name "kapug", because "ka" is so unspecific and we stopped giving such names long ago, to avoid future conflicts. Suggestions I got elsewhere: karlsruhe-de-pug karls-de-pug karlspug-de de-karlspug Feel free to suggest other names. Here's the list of existing mailing list PUGs: http://www.postgresql.org/list/group/6/ (the URLs show the mailing list names) Note also http://www.postgresql.org/community/user-groups/ which lists "pgug". -- Alvaro Herrera
