If we're talking *directory symlinks only*, it can be done on Win32.
It's pretty ugly, the native UI doesn't support showing them etc, but it
can be done. (This is only Windows 2000+, not NT4, btw)
I still would like a non-symlink solution on Unix as well, but I've
noticed I'm with the minority side there, and this is still a lot better
than nothing...
