After compiling and installing Postgresql7.0beta3 successfully as
described in the INSTALL file,
I created a postgres profile, and I updated my PGDATA and PGLIB local
variables.

I can manually start postmaster, and postgresql works really well.

I executed the
/usr/src/postgresql-7.0beta3/contrib/linux/postmaster.init.sh install
I created the link in /etc/rc.d/rc5.d
I did not succeded in using manually the postmaster scripts in
/etc/rc.d/init.d/.
While booting the system, the postmaster service seems to start, but I
just can't call a 'createdb' or 'psql' without starting postmaster
manually.

Is there anything to be done in the /etc/rc.d/init.d/postmaster script
that I forgot?

thanks helping

regards
