Microsoft and MySQL conquered the world with converse ideas : releasing crap.
Beside, Cygwin is a very good POSIX emulation. So PostgreSQL + Cygwin wron't
be crap.

Dev-C++ because mingw and Cygwin can coexist.

Well... This is where we disagree. We can do BOTH :
- release a fast Cygwin + PostgreSQL installer,
- port PostgreSQL to native Windows.

I stopped using Windows a year ago for political reasons. I stopped using
Windows three years ago in production for non-political reasons. I simply
could not work with such a bad system.

Sorry my friend, at that time I was sleeping with an Apple IIx and later a
Macintosh. You must have had a hard time debugging Windows 1.0 or 2.0 (which
I read on the list previously). You must have been very lucky to survive. Now
I understand your point of view better ...

Agreed. But it wron't be ready before 6 months. Meanwhile I would like to come
with a suitable solution to release on http://www.bloodshed.net and feed
hungry developpers that are getting bored with MySQL.
In short, my opinion is
"Le mieux est l'ennemi du bien"
