But do remember us poor distribution maintainers.  It makes life a lot
easier for us if upstream writers make an effort not to conflict with the
rest of the world!

If some local user or administrator puts PostgreSQL on his machine, it
may be appropriate to use /usr/local, but a PostgreSQL package installed as 
part of a distribution should never use it.
