Hi All, 

I am getting the following error while restarting the master server

2018-10-15 12:34:50 IST [32747-4] LOG:  redo is not required
2018-10-15 12:34:50 IST [32751-1] postgres@postgres FATAL:  the database system is starting up
2018-10-15 12:34:50 IST [32747-5] FATAL:  could not access status of transaction 385464
2018-10-15 12:34:50 IST [32747-6] DETAIL:  Could not read from file "pg_clog/0000" at offset 90112: Success.
2018-10-15 12:34:50 IST [32746-1] LOG:  startup process (PID 32747) exited with exit code 1

I think you are missing some of the commit logs from pg_clog directories or have been wiped off. I ran into that issue ages ago but I can’t recollect what I did to bring the database back up.

 

Just touching the files under that directory is not the solution, although it may/may not work. But I believe, you may have to reset logs (or even force reset logs), which can sometimes cause loss of data.
