stable snapshots still 8.2 ?

it seems the stable snapshot on the ftp site currently contains 8.2.7 
(or close to) source.
I guess we should update that to 8.3 though the definition of a "stable" 
snapshot seems a bit weird (is it always the trunk of the last major 
release or should we have the current branches  of all supported 
releases maybe?)
