News events listing favoring month-long training

I think we need to fix the events listing. Training that spans months
stays at the top of the list for much too long.

If you look now, two Brazilian training events are displayed, and
Linuxworld, and an event listed for the 18th doesn't even show.

I am not sure how they are sorted now but it needs to be improved.

Hmmmm.... maybe displaying some kind of mixture of "soonest and
shortest" first (no idea of the right balance) with the long ones in
progress at present being listed after them, then the rest after that?

Yes, I've been wondering about that as well.

I think the best solution would be to show *all* events that fall within
a certain time span, say the next 30 days, and possibly fill that up to
show at least 3 or 5.

Consider the case where we had one event every day. The current listing
would be useless because it would only show the events that are
happening right now, which you surely aren't going to because they are
already going on. The events that are most interesting for the readers
are the ones that they can make plans for, so that would be the coming
4 weeks or so.

Seems we should expire news items from the list when the are more than
one week past their start date.
