Thread: Quote for 'featured user' box and testimonial

Quote for 'featured user' box and testimonial

Hi guys,

I contacted Mark and asked for a quote (see below). I liked this one
because he moved off Oracle and had such a positive experience with
PostgreSQL.

Omar: can we make the featured user box on the front page rotate. I know
that the actual pages we see are static but that's okay. Perhaps we could
re-generate the front page every x minutes.

Also, I'll start putting together a testimonials page too.

Gavin

Subject: Stosberg / Summersault / 1-800-Save-A-Pet.com quote for you

Gavin,

I have some quotes for you now. The options vary in length to give you
more flexibility.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Mark

Long version:
-------------
"Summersault LLC was contracted to enhance the busy website
1-800-Save-A-Pet.com. The legacy system used an Oracle/tcl
infrastructure, but we felt using PostgreSQL and Perl was a better
choice going forward. We researched the relative benefits of Oracle,
MySQL, Microsoft Access and PostgreSQL and the client was satisfied that
PostgreSQL was the most suitable database.

Using PostgreSQL and Perl, we managed to greatly enhance the site
whilst reducing the size of the code base significantly -- so now its
easier to maintain and much less complex.

Choosing PostgreSQL has paid off. It is fast, reliable, stable."

Short version:
---------------
"My firm chose PostgreSQL to replace a legacy Oracle system on a national
high-traffic database driven website. We were able to add features,
shrink the codeline, and increase speed. Choosing PostgreSQL has paid off
for us and our client, and it is our database of choice for web
 application development."

Still 50 words, but a little more concise. You could even leave off the
 stuff after "our client".

Hi Gavin,

For the front page quote, is shortening Mark's short version even
further ok? Something like:

"My firm chose PostgreSQL to replace a legacy Oracle system on a
national high-traffic database driven website. Choosing PostgreSQL has
paid off for us and our client, and it is our database of choice for web
application development."

I think it flows better and doesn't sound over-technical. What do you
reckon?

Regards and best wishes,

Justin Clift
