Hi. I´ve tried one thousand times to download postgres from
ftp://ftp.postgresql.org/pub/postgresql-v6.5.1.tar.gz but I can´t, the
link is broken.
I'm using Linux RedHat 6.2. Can I just run the postmaster and begin
creating databases or I have to download and install eveything?

There are a lot of newer version on the FTP site now.

You can't download the postmaster separately.  If you already have that,
you should also have a reasonable subset of the rest.  Hard to tell more
from here.
