Problem Description:

When I was running 6.3.2 I was able to insert strings
 > than 7K into a field. Having upgraded to 6.4 I find that
the backend processes 'postgres' just die.

Test Case:

Create table test (s text);
insert into s values (5000 bytes of spaces);

This is fixed in 6.5.
