PostGIS versions under Debian 6 and 7

Hi guys,

I was wondering why PostGIS 1.5 is not available under Debian 7 ?

And the way around, why PostGIS 2.x is not available under Debian 6 ?

As we are migrating from 9.1 to 9.3, under Debian 6 we need first to migrate
PostGIS from 1.5 to 2.1, then upgrade PostgreSQL to 9.3.

Is it possible to create such packages ? How could we help you in this process ?

Cheers,

Hi,

I think the reason was simply that we never had 1.5 packages but
started with 2.x, and while setting up the 2.x support it turned out
that the geos/geom packages on squeeze were so old that 2.x there was
not possible, and it was also infeasible to updated these packages
there to make it happen. We do provide some updated libraries on
wheezy/trusty/etc, but for squeeze, it was just too much.

To solve your problem, I'd try using the existing 1.5 packages on
wheezy. I'd guess they still work there.
