to a postgres database, anyone know if this can be done?  I'm thinking
maybe odbc, but I'm not sure."

For one-time or scheduled data conversion between databases, MS DTS is a
good tool (note: requires licensed copy of MS sql server).

Note that there are also stand-alone tools that will handle this just as well (if not better).
http://www.pervasive.com/dataintegrator/is one that would do what you want.
