i am getting the following error when i try to run 'createdb' command from
within the bin directory ..

/bin$ ./pg_ctl -D
/host/driveD/manualInstalls/SpatialDatabase/PostgreSQL_postGIS/installPostgreSQL/bin/UserDatabases
-l logfile start
server starting
/bin$ createdn mydb;
createdb: could not connect to database postgres: could not connect to
server: No such file or directory
        Is the server running locally and accepting
        connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"?
