can the postgres database be installed on a risc box running aix 4.3.3?
i have herd that it will not run under aix. if not why?

Who told you that?  AIX is listed as a supported platform, meaning that
someone has tested PG on it, for every recent PG release.  There's even
a doc/FAQ_AIX file in the distribution.

Yes it can.  I have one up and running on AIX 4.3.3 and 4.3.2.
