Thread: jobs mailling list: pgsql-jobs@postgresql.org ?
As PostgreSQL's popularity grows... Is there a mailling list in postgresql.org, such as pgsql-jobs@postgresql.org or jobs@postgresql.org , etc., where employers can list open PostgreSQL-related job positions and individuals can post themselves of their availabilities to potential employers? I don't see such a list on: http://www.postgresql.org/lists.html But I do see a webpage: http://techdocs.postgresql.org/jobs.php Though it only lists one job and doesn't display the date posted. If there is such a jobs mailling list, would someone point it out, please? If not, should/will one be added?
Hi, I've sent an email to Justin@postgresql.org expressing my interest in building jobs.postgresql.org. I'm a Web developer and can fit this into my schedule right now. I'll post a message once I hear some news. There are several options available and I'll ask for user feedback if/when I can get underway. I think a sharp jobs.postgresql.org would be very cool. First question: Would people prefer a web site or an email list ? Cheers Rudi. Rudi, > I've sent an email to Justin@postgresql.org expressing my interest in > building jobs.postgresql.org. > I'm a Web developer and can fit this into my schedule right now. E-mail me and Robert Treat instead. Justin is somewhere in the outback right now. > I'll post a message once I hear some news. > There are several options available and I'll ask for user feedback > if/when I can get underway. > > I think a sharp jobs.postgresql.org would be very cool. > > First question: > Would people prefer a web site or an email list ? Yes. ;-> Ideally, we would have a web site that automatically fed new postings to an e-mail list. Also keep in mind that we need several languages. I'll be happy to work with you on a spec. From: "Rudi Starcevic" <rudi@oasis.net.au> > Would people prefer a web site or an email list ? Although an integrated website and email list would be spectacular, an email list would be preferable, because the posting(s) would be sent out to all who are interested (kind of like push technology), rather than having people needing to check the site (kind of like pull technology) every so often. Employers would appreciate the fact that their announcement is going to be read within (usually) 24 hours, thus they could get a faster reaction/response. And job seekers would appreciate the service. And people that already have postgres-related jobs may appreciate knowing how in-demand their jobs are, should there be more activity on the mailling list (website), and in case they're wondering/planning to switch their current jobs. I volunteer myself to manage it, though whoever is already in charge of the mailling list may need contact me...
Web site I think. Too much email already. :-) Tom Hodges On 1 Jul 2003 at 13:20, Rudi Starcevic wrote: > Hi, > > I've sent an email to Justin@postgresql.org expressing my interest in > building jobs.postgresql.org. > I'm a Web developer and can fit this into my schedule right now. > > I'll post a message once I hear some news. > There are several options available and I'll ask for user feedback > if/when I can get underway. > > I think a sharp jobs.postgresql.org would be very cool. > > First question: > Would people prefer a web site or an email list ? > > Cheers > Rudi. > > > Frank Lee wrote: > > >As PostgreSQL's popularity grows... > > > >Is there a mailling list in postgresql.org, such as > >pgsql-jobs@postgresql.org or jobs@postgresql.org , etc., > >where employers can list open PostgreSQL-related job positions > >and individuals can post themselves of their availabilities > >to potential employers? > > > >I don't see such a list on: > >http://www.postgresql.org/lists.html > > > >But I do see a webpage: http://techdocs.postgresql.org/jobs.php > >Though it only lists one job and doesn't display the date posted. > > > >If there is such a jobs mailling list, would someone point it out, please? > >If not, should/will one be added? > > > > > >---------------------------(end of broadcast)--------------------------- > >TIP 9: the planner will ignore your desire to choose an index scan if your > > joining column's datatypes do not match > > > > > > > > > > ---------------------------(end of broadcast)--------------------------- > TIP 8: explain analyze is your friend >
