Thread: createdb-fatal error

After logging  as pgsql user, the command CREATEDB
testdb, gets the following comment:-
psql: FATAL 1: Database "template1" doen not exist.
The database subdirectory '/vat/lib/pgsql/data//base/1
is missing.createdb: database creation failed.
your help is requested.

is that supposed to be /var/lib.......

if so you've got a setting that needs setting ;-)
