It's possible to use and save Postgres DB on a NT smbfs filesystem (smbmount)?

It should be possible, but it is never recommended to have the database
on a network file system.

What would happen if the network server were to be shut down in the
middle of a transaction?  You would be needing to restore from backup, I
suspect.
