Are there some other frontends for beginners to admin postgres?

Hey, watch it. Some of the phppgadmin developers may be reading this
 message. :-)

Yes.

1. PGAccess: Windows and Linux. Somewhat out-of-date, and has
 problems on KDE 2.2.
2. PGAdminII: Windows Only. Very user-friendly ODBC-based GUI.

Also some IDEs, such as Borland's Kylix, include management tools for
PostgreSQL. See the archives of the Pgsql-Announce list for links to
 various postgres-supporting products.

You can try webmin. It has modules for everything from PostgreSQL to
sendmail. Of course, as a beginner, the best way to learn is without a
gui admin tool. Roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty.

I've used webmin - it's good but it doesn't list sequences

I tend to move around between computers at work, so I use Webmin most of the
time since I don't have to install any software on the computer I'm sitting
at.

But I have pgadmin installed on one computer that I use when I want to check
sequences (other than just using a SQL statement from Webmin)

I just checked out pgAdminII and it is MUCH better that pgadmin (PS - I'm
using Windows workstations)

I will probably switch to using pgadminII more often now

The archives seem to be currently unsearchable (I got the message 'Sorry,
under construction') -- does anyone have a link for PGadminII in particular?

best,
