Inview Technology is based in Northwich in the UK. Inview have created a lightweight platform that allows access to a range of internet content on low cost TV’s and Set top boxes. In addition to our next generation EPG and recommendation engine, our platform provides access to on demand video and music streaming, news and weather updates, photosharing, social networking, games and gaming and instant messaging. Having established itself developing interactive services for terrestrial broadcast TV, Inview now offers a global service for IP Connected TV, incorporating advanced EPGs and Widget style applications / content.

Role:

We have a need for an experienced Database Developer/Administrator to join the infrastructure team creating the back end infrastructure for internet TV services. The infrastructure is built on a farm of machines, utilising a number of technologies all glued together with perl and using a clustered PostgreSQL database to serve data to the various parts of the system, all these databases need maintenance and development.

We are a small cross-functional team; there is a large level of involvement, fast paced development, deep involvement in development across the company product range.

Requirements:


The role will include:

* Liaison with the infrastructure team to develop new functions/schemas to fit business requirements.

* Extend monitoring of the databases

* Maintain / improve database resilience

* Improve performance of the database

* Install new versions of PostgreSQL to bring in either beneficial improvements or to fix security issues

* Build / deploy PostgreSQL software from scratch where required

The candidate MUST have:

* PL/pgSQL

* OLTP

Additional skills successful candidate should show:

* PL/proxy

* PgBouncer

* Linux

* Perl


Salary and Benefits:

Salary Dependant on Experience

37.5 Hours per week (Permanent)

Pension and share option scheme (after 6 months service)

RPX is seeking an experienced PostgreSQL professional to contribute to
the success of the Systems Development department.  In this role, the
Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and deploying
backend system (ETL) applications and data access layers to Postgres
servers running on Amazon EC2.  This individual will partner closely
with other engineering teams including, Product Management, QA, Web
Development (Ruby on Rails), and Operations Development.  The Software
Engineer will be responsible for the complete software development
lifecycle for RPX products.  Reports to the Senior Director, Software
Engineering

*** Role

* Designs database schemas for frontend and backend systems
* Builds ETL systems using Pentaho, Kettle, PlPgSQL, and other technologies
* Builds data access APIs using PL/PGSQL, Ruby, and Java
* Supports analysis needs by building rollups, views, and complex queries
using Tableau and other reporting/analytics tools
* Creates design and architecture documentation (ERD, DFD)


*** Education/Experience Required

* Bachelor¹s degree in Computer Science or related field and/or equivalent
experience
* Minimum of 6 years¹ experience in Database development with Oracle or
Postgres, using stored procedures/functions
* Experience designing and building ETL and ELT applications
* Experience with relational and dimensional modeling

ETL development, relational and dimensional modeling, and design skills
* Able to code in one of the following: Java, Ruby, or Python
* Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook


*** Preferred Competencies

* Experience with Ruby and Amazon EC2/EBS experience viewed favorably
* Experience with Tableau or other analytics/reporting system viewed
favorably
