Responsibilities
The data modeler is a key member of the team that supports the relational databases at SCHARP. The data modeler is primarily responsible for developing, implementing and tuning data models based on SCHARP's business requirements. S/he is also responsible for developing strategies for data synchronization, integrity and standardization and for serving as a backup database administrator.
The person in this position is primarily responsible for developing, implementing and tuning data models. He or she will be expected to interface with internal SCHARP users, the database and applications programmers, the database administrator, as well as with IT/systems administrators in other FHCRC groups. While this person is not responsible for desktop or application support, s/he is responsible for serving as the backup database administrator which includes tasks such as account management, backup and recovery, and configuration of the database servers.
Major Duties
1.Develop business, logical and physical data models
2.Analyze and translate business requirements into data requirements.
3.Develop and ensure proper usage of data modeling, naming & description standards.
4.Develop strategies for data synchronization, update, and integrity.
5.Guide development teams in system database design.
6.Review and tuning of data model for performance improvement.
7.Serve as a third member of the database administration team. Responsibilities in this arena include tasks such as creating users and maintaining access control, checking backup scripts, monitoring database functionality, modifying database server configuration.
8.Other duties as required
Qualifications
Two years experience data modeling.
Three years experience with relational databases.
Experience analyzing the technical needs of an individual or group and researching and recommending solutions.
Self motivated learner.
Effective communication skills.
Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize daily tasks and projects.
