This is DBD-Pg-1.22, do you mean newer than that?

The only thing is that I have heard suggestions that replacing the stock
perl on OS X with 5.8 can cause problems with certain system functions

Yes, sorry I was not clear. The latest CVS version should cleanly work 
around the versioning problem. In particular, you should be able to 
replace just the file "Pg.pm" to fix that problem:
