I'm having problems using Access 2000 and Postgresql. I am linking tables using the ODBC driver. In Access's table view, you can update fields of rows which contain no empty fields fine. However, if any of the rows fields are empty, it won't let you change it at all. message box title: "Write Conflict" description: "This record has been changed by another user since you started editing it. If you save the record, you will overwrite the changes the other user made." buttons: "Copy to Clipboard" and "Drop Changes". I've been told, although I haven't tried it myself, that Access 97 works ok. Is this a problem with Access 2000, the ODBC driver or Postgresql itself, and is there any way of fixing/working around this problem? -- Phil Davey http://www.pod-designs.net/philandjo.html E-mail pod@pod-designs.net ICQ 46295740 Just because you're smart, doesn't mean you can't act stupid....
The same question comes up in the MySQL email list. Apparently if you get the service pack for Office 2000 and the latestMDAC from the microsoft website, this problem is fixed. >I'm having problems using Access 2000 and Postgresql. >I am linking tables using the ODBC driver. > >In Access's table view, you can update fields of rows which contain no >empty fields fine. > >However, if any of the rows fields are empty, it won't let you change it >at all. >message box title: "Write Conflict" >description: "This record has been changed by another user since you >started editing it. I've installed Service pack SR1A for Access and installed the (almost) latest MDAC (2.1SP2 I think). The only more recent version is the one that comes with Win2K and isn't downloadable yet (2.5). None of that made any difference though - I still get exactly the same problem. Any other ideas? > >In Access's table view, you can update fields of rows which contain no > >empty fields fine. > > > >However, if any of the rows fields are empty, it won't let you change it > >at all. > >message box title: "Write Conflict" > >description: "This record has been changed by another user since you > >started editing it.
