thanks to all who responded.
i wanted to try pgacces as i wanted to try pgadmin too, but i'm still using
postgresql 6.3.2 and i'm still a little scared/nervous to upgrade.
but it seems i will have to.
so my problem was just that i didn't have version 6.4.2 of postgresql
