From

Hi, i want to announce you the release of a new PostgreSQL Interface... its name is XPg, and it was made on Java under
theGPL license. Please, check the site... it could be a useful tool for much people (althoughthe application is still
underdevelopment). The website of XPg is: http://www.kazak.ws/xpg

The PostgreSQL hackers opinion about XPg is really important for us developers.
Thank you for your attention.Have nice day.

Gustavo,

I had a quick look at it, and it looks great!

Couple of questions?

1) Why did you choose the GPL license, I expect it cannot be added to
the postgres distribution with that license? Postgres is released under
the BSD license.

2) What did you modify in the driver to make it work?
3) You should post this on the jdbc list.

4) Not so much a question, but I have started a project on sourceforge
which is essentially the same project. http://sf.net/projects/jpgadmin.
I may be interested in collaborating.

Dave

Hello Dave... thank you for pay attention to our application.

We choose the GPL license because we want that everyone could have access to the application, including the source
code. But we love it if XPg is added or included as a part of the postgres distribution... it would be great for
us.If is necessary to change de license, we will do it.

> 2) What did you modify in the driver to make it work?
We tried to get some information about foreing keys with the standar JDBC... but it nevers works... :(

> 3) You should post this on the jdbc list.
I did it in several places... even java.sun.com... if you could help me with others sites and mail lists... it
willbe nice ;)

It would require a change of license ... but that wouldn't necessarily
get it included as part of the distribution.

solaris 9?

From
redmonde@purdue.edu
Date:
With pg 7.2 I had no problems, but getting the development version from CVS I
am unable to compile. Specifically it does a:
make: *** No rule to make target `isinf.o', needed by `SUBSYS.o'. Stop.
within src/backend/port. I noticed that the Makefile setup has been changed
since the stable version.
Has it been tested on Solaris 9? Is something amiss in the new Makefile setup?

Thanks;
Eric

You just did ;-)

Evidently. Send us a patch.

We are in the process of refactoring how the port-specific files are
used in PostgreSQL. Please grab a newer CVS and give it a try. Thanks.
