Shared memory use?

Is there a way to ask pgsql how much memory, sort memory,  etc is being
used by pgsql at a given time (like in a system table or something)?

Um ... have you considered top, sar, or the other sysadmin tools your
platform may provide?

top knows nothing about sort memory or internal cache/buffer sizes.
