There's bound to be a better way, but in the NT resource kit there was a tool you can use to make any .exe a service. I have a bash script running under Cygwin as a service here using it. Without modifying the postmaster, this is probably the best solution. An NT service has to handle and respond to various events (START, STOP, PAUSE, RESUME) as well as be able to install & deinstall itself.
