Thread: Pid file magically disappears
Can anybody else reproduce this in the current development version? Start one postmaster in the foreground. Start another one on the same data dir in the background on a different port (say -p 8888 -S). It will give you a message about the pid file thing and then it seems to delete the pid file on my system. What's really scary is that when I try to step through this with a debugger then the pid file stays in place. (An alternative way to do this is to `echo foo > postmaster.pid ; chmod 0000 postmaster.pid'. In any case you must start the server with -S.)
