Thread: Compile woes
It seems I cannot compile the backend anymore. Here's what I get after make distclean; configure; make: ... gcc -I../../../include -I../../../backend -O2 -Wall -Wmissing-prototypes -Wmissing-declarations -I../.. -c -o tupdesc.otupdesc.c ld -r -o SUBSYS.o heaptuple.o indextuple.o indexvalid.o printtup.o scankey.o tupdesc.o make[3]: Leaving directory /home/postgres/pgsql/src/backend/access/common' make -C gist SUBSYS.o make[3]: Entering directory /home/postgres/pgsql/src/backend/access/gist' make[3]: *** No rule to make target ../../../include/utils/dt.h', needed by ist.o'. Stop. Michael, did you solve this yet? My guess is you need a new 'make depend'. regards, tom lane

My guess is you need a new 'make depend'. make depend does not run through since ecpg/preproc/Makefile does not know depend. But it works on the backend directories. Then again it does not change anything. What did work, however, is manually removing all files named 'depend'. Shouldn't this be done by a 'make distclean'? Interestingly enough running 'make depend' now that the old depend files are removed creates the correct ones. Michael -- Michael Meskes | Go SF 49ers!
