Time Zones

From

With this morning's conversations about the time zones in Alaska and
Hawaii, I asked a friend of mine about Hawaii (he just moved back to
Texas after 20+ years there).

-----------------
Hawaii Standard I guess is the Time Zone. They do NOT observe Daylight
Savings..even tho' Alaska, in the same Time Zone does.

Currently, Hawaii is 5 hours behind EST, 4 hours behind CST, 3hours behind
MST, and 2hours behind Califrisco or PST. During Daylight Savings Time add
one hour to those numbers. If I remember correctly, Hawaii is 10 hours
behind GMT..but you need to check that.

I'd do it for you in my Map Control Panel on my Mac...but I'm about to rush
out the door.

Hope this helps....

BTW Honolulu, ( and all the Islands in the Hawaiian chain, are exactly 12
hours opposite Durban, South Africa. Don't ask why I know that.
-----------------

He seems to indicate there is only one Alaska time zone, I didn't ask
that directly and my fone book doesn't cover west of the Pacific zone.
According to my cell phone, *MOST* of Alaska is in the same tz but the
western most cost is in the next one over - however it doesn't give the
option of selecting it as a valid time zone.

Thanks Vince. More than I ever wanted to know; now I suppose I'll have
to go back and check that everything else matches up too? ;)

Another question on time zones:

Does "Iran Time", abbreviated "IT", actually fall +3:40 away from UTC?
Or do I have another typo to fix??

This is from: http://www.tradenz.govt.nz/intelligence/profiles/iran.html

Time Zones - Iran

3 1/2 hours ahead of GMT
8 1/2 hours behind NZ
9 hours behind NZ daylight savings.

I saw a couple of references to 30 mins, so far none for 40 mins.
