I uinderstand and agree. In like fashion, I have a large dislike for MySQL and Access. But then again, are either of them really db's? :)

I must say that if it weren't for Access and their support community, I wouldn't have been introduced to PostgreSQL (via my interest in the temporal extensions some years back) -- and coming from the business side of things, making the leap from Excel to Access many many moons ago served as my paradigm 'relational database' moment.  Suffice to say MS really captured a niche with an all-in-one app/db.  But yes, for a 'real' enterprise database then it drops off the table of contenders ; )
