You should specify pgbouncer with “-d” option:

-bash-4.2$ psql -p 6432 –d pgbouncer

Try specifying "--host=localhost" or "--host=127.0.0.1"

And another question, if I want to specify remote postgres DB's in the .ini file. How do I do that?
